Knowledge for Children

Knowledge for Children is a Cameroon-Dutch based NGO, that believes knowledge is the key to a promising future for children in developing countries. This is why Knowledge for Children invests in education for these children. Given that nothing is as instructive, and has such educational potential as a schooltextbook, we do this by the implementation of schoolbook projects. During our textbook projects in recent years, we have in a balanced manner provided 95 rural primaryschools with textbooks. By encouraging self-sustainability and stimulating ownership by local communities, we give our activities a sustainable base. This is highly valued by both, cooperators and donors in Holland and Cameroon. Knowledge for Children for example expresses its focus on sustainability by demanding participating schools to set up and maintain their own bookfund, from which the school-library in future years can be replaced and extended. Also, the organizing and facilitating of seminars and workshops for teachers and parent councils in relation to how to use textbooks for education and the maintaining of textbooks, is part of our activities. We are currently investigating how to best integrate HIV/AIDS and malaria education into our operations. In the factsheets to be found here Knowledge for Children is described in brief:
